Thermography (thermo printing), also known as raised printing is a print process done inline with the
printing. Thermography powder is sprayed on a sheet of paper after it
leaves an offset printing press; it is then vacuumed off of the sheet.
The powder is left only where there was an image, or printed ink. The
sheet then travels through a heat tunnel where the heat causes the
powder to melt and leave behind a raised image.
Thermography can be used to create classy business cards with textured letters and graphics. It is not recommended to have large solids and screens on business cards with this printing technique. |
